Erect or creeping herb, (15–) 20–25 (–30) cm tall, stem and branches terete, glabrous. Leaves with petioles (0.5–) 1–2 mm long, sparsely hispid hairs, auricles usually present, with hispid hairs at margin; lamina (1.8–) 2–2.8 (–3.2) by 1–1.5 (–2) cm, elliptic or ovate, sparsely to moderately hispidus on both surfaces, base cuneate or attenuate, apex acute or acuminate, margin entire with ciliate hairs, primary vein moderately hispidus on both surfaces; secondary veins (5–) 6–7 (–8)-paired, without intramarginal vein. Ocreae cylindrical, 5–8 (–10) mm long, scarious, hispidus, conspicuous venation with 12–16 (–18) veins, apex slightly truncate, with 20–28 (–32) bristles. Inflorescence capitate paniculate, globose, (4.5–) 5.5–8 (–10) cm long, erect, terminal and axillary, (24–) 34–40 (–45) ocreolae per globose head, inflorescence branches glabrous, except underneath globose head present with moderately hispid and glandular hairs, ca. 0.2 mm long; globose head (4–) 5–8 mm long; leafy bracts usually present, 5–8 (–12) by 2–5 mm, ovate, apex acute, margin entire with ciliate hairs; without leafy bracteole subtended globose head branches. Flowers with 3–5 flowers in an ocreola; pedicels ca. 1 mm long, glabrous; bracteoles 1–1.2 (–1.5) mm long, hyaline; ocreolae incompletely enclosed rachis, 2.8–3 (–3.2) mm long, glabrous, apex obtuse and acute, margin entire without hispid hair and bristle. Tepals 5, whitish pink; lobes 1–1.2 by 0.5–1 mm, ovate, apex obtuse, with 3–5 viens, without glandular dot; tube 1–1.5 mm long, eglandular. Stamens 8, in two whorls, outer 0.6–1.2 mm long, inner 1–1.5 mm long; anthers white. Style 1, deeply 3-clefted, 1.2–1.5 mm long; stigma capitate, white. Fruits with scarious perianth, triangular, 1–1.2 (–1.5) by 0.8–1 mm, shiny black.
